DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND INDUSTRIAL PARTNERSHIP

Introduction

The department of research, innovation and industrial partnership was opened in July 2025 under the theme greening national instructors college for sustainable development to contribute in the addressing the challenges of 21th century teaching and learning and sustainable development goals using competence education and training methodologies.

The activity done by the department was;

  1. Workshop by the ministry of education and sports department of TVET trainers training research and innovation on greening TVET institutions held at national instructors’ college
  2. Research and innovation committee was formulated
  3. Training on project proposal writing for greening NICA for sustainable development held at national instructors’ college Abilonino where by 15 green project proposals were realized.
  4. Participation on 11th UNESCO Africa engineering week and 9th African engineering conference held at Speke resort Munyonyo Kampala from 13th – 20th September 2025 with the theme: leveraging engineering innovation and technology to accelerate Africa socio economic transformation

The department plans to do the following activities;

  • Green NICA for sustainable development
  • Include research and innovation in the curriculum
  • Have a research incubation center
  • Establish an innovation hub at NICA
  • Establish showcasing room for the designed products at NICA
  • Encourage research and publications at NICA.
